Madoka Magica AMV posted!

Gonna keep this short and sweet. Here's a Puella Magi Madoka Magica AMV that I've been working on forever! It's really nice to have someone Beta something and force you to make yourself do better. Having friends look at it is all well and good, but sometimes total strangers can offer you the most help. Very good experience working on this.

YAY I have food poisoning.

This past month... kind of sucked for me.

So, I had my wisdom teeth out. Spent a week simultaneously STARVING and disgusted by the mere sight of food. Had a nice week and a half of eating normally again. And then I got food poisoning and spent the past week and a half Having Food Poisoning. It did go away in the middle there for half a week while I had my period, thanks for that, body. And then it came back with a vengeance, sending me home from work (a place from which I have NEVER taken a sick day) until I had to go see the doctor and get prescription antibiotics today. So, yeah, back to starving because I can't eat normal food!

Anyway, if nothing has gotten finished this month, it's because my body is officially rebelling against me.

In lighter news, reesecraven and I will be at NMACon this weekend, an event I've been looking forward to since mid-summer. Perfect timing, Food Poisoning! Let's hope I don't die before then! YAY.

Madoka Magica AMV Betas

So, here you go. If you're interested in watching the Rough Cut of my new AMV, here's a link. I know it's awhile after my first post about it, but I wanted to go back in and fix a few things... which turned into a lot of things, but I digress.

If you haven't watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica yet, in order to get what's going on in the video, all you have to know is that the dark haired girl, Homura, is granted time powers when she becomes a magical girl. Hopefully the rest is clear. (I don't look at this like a yuri video, but I can see where it might be construed that way... take from it what you will, I guess)

Anyway, let me know what you think, what can be improved, what doesn't look right, what is badly timed, etc. I really would like the constructive criticism.

Some Updates For You

I know I've been REALLY quiet lately, so I figured I should at least let you all know what's going on, especially since I do have some news. My absence from internet-dom was due to several causes, partly that summer is one of my busiest times of the year.

For the past few months I've been battling with iMovie. It would work fine. Then it would stop completely. At one point I thought I'd have to bite the bullet and just buy Final Cut Pro. The solution I finally found was that I had to give up all progress I had made on several videos I was working on, delete everything that had to do with iMovie off my computer, and reinstall the whole thing. So far, everything is working fine. I even have an AMV that is about 90% done, but I'll talk about that in a little bit.

My enthusiasm for TCAS comes and goes lately, but I'm going to try and get back into it during this coming week. I have the week off due to just having had oral surgery on Thursday, so I have plenty of time to sit down and script out an episode.

At some point after doing the Colors of the Rainbow AMV, I decided I wanted to watch Madoka Magica and... well, I was pretty blown away by it. So I made an AMV! I'd kind of like to do something different with this one, and have somebody watch it before I release it and give some constructive criticism of it. (I'd ask on The Org, but they can be kind of snobs and I don't really want to deal with them...) It's more on a visual style criticism, like pacing and stuff, so it's not ENTIRELY necessary to have seen Madoka Magica... but at the same time, if you haven't seen the show, you're not really going to understand what's going on in the video. (REALLY not going to understand, because Madoka has some wild plot twists... AKA, GO WATCH THAT SERIES!) Anyway, if anybody wanted to watch it over for me and give me some helpful criticism, just ask and I'll give you a link.

Colors of the Rainbow AMV

So, here's an AMV for everyone! Magical girls. I love them. :-3
There's a list on the video page of what I have and haven't seen, if you want to answer some of the questions I posed at the end.

And if anyone is wondering, my favorite magical girl anime is Princess Tutu. Of course, it's also one of my favorite shows in general, so that stands to reason.

My Top 5 Favorite Magical Girl Shows:
1. Princess Tutu
2. Revolutionary Girl Utena
3. Cardcaptor Sakura
4. Magic Knight Rayearth
5. Sailor Moon

With a special mention going out to Magic User's Club. :-3

Cardcaptor Sakura might have made it higher on the list if it wasn't as long as it is. Because I do count the manga as being my favorite.

Sailor Moon WOULD have been higher, if not for Chibiusa. I don't TOTALLY dislike her, I just dislike the IDEA of her.

Also....... Live Action Sailor Moon is the best Sailor Moon ever. There, I said it.

That's an "As of right now" list that will probably change as I watch more anime.

Long time, no type, Livejournal Readers, but I had to come tell you about this dream I had last night.

It started off with reality show ladies finding love, which reality show? It didn't matter, they were pretty generic. They were going on some date with these guys who were ignoring them, and I, as the... host? Landlady? Concerned passerby? Threw them out of the house.

But one lady, as the dream shifted and they were no longer reality show contestants, did find a nice guy she liked and they left to live happily ever after... until they disturbed a hatch like the ones on Lost (except this was on the end of a dock for some reason) and caused an ecological disaster. (Blizzards in summer, etc etc)

I ran out there onto the dock to warn them about the hatch (too late) and somehow, myself and the lady both ended up in the water. As we're walking back (through the water, no less), this hill billy guy is sailing past in a sail boat. He's holding this puppy in his arms, just the ugliest puppy you've ever seen, and as he passes, he doesn't say a word, he just holds the puppy out to me. It's obvious that the hill billy knows about the ecological disaster, and he's hoping that by giving me the puppy, the puppy is going to live. Because now, I'm apparently a bigwig in the organization that is working to save the world, or humanity, or whatever it is we're trying to save. The hill billy knows this, and I know this, so I accept the puppy.

"Even though you're probably covered in diseases and fleas," I tell the puppy, who nevertheless puts his front paws around me.

I run back to shore and try to find whoever is in charge. They're busy and in the meantime, I put the puppy down and find out that it's a female puppy. I name her "Spud," because she's "One Ugly Spud."

The dream kind of fades out around here, but not before my dad yells at me for taking in another dog.

Sooooo, yeah. My dreams seldom make chronological sense, with main characters changing completely and dramatic shifts in setting or tone. So, anybody want to take a shot at interpreting it? XD

Episode 2: You Might Be Missing Some of the Benefits That Stereo Can Provide

Guest Starring TheSyaoKun as Nokoru. Featuring possibly the dirtiest joke ever on TCAS? You be the judge...

The title is a reference to the SNES game Top Gear 2. If you've ever played that game, you will know that phrase.

This episode took a really long time to work on, both due to the DVD issues, and that I just wasn't feeling it for awhile. Initially, I felt it was a REALLY subpar episode. It was too long and was... quite ug. So when I eventually came back to it, I started snipping things out, shortening lines, making it snappier. Pretty sure I trimmed at least a minute and a half out of it by just these little things. I think it's a much better episode for it. Honestly, not my FAVORITE episode, but it does have some pretty good bits in it.

Here's a hot secret I'm divulging to you, my faithful LiveJournal crew. The Dragon Tube joke originated YEARS ago when we were watching Tsubasa in my college anime club. With about six or seven college age students throwing the absolute dirtiest jokes at the screen, I had to clean it up quite a lot. The joke as it appears in the episode went through several iterations. It needed to have the perfect blend of subtle yet completely obvious at the same time.

So, there you go... my college anime club was worth SOMETHING in the end...

Cartoon Heroes Episode 5

Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure

Part 1

Part 2

This was a tough review. Tough to write and surprisingly tough to record. And REALLY long. I split it into two parts because of that. Let me know what you think. :-)

A couple updates for ya.

Once I finish this review of Raggedy Ann & Andy, I'll try to get back to TCAS. I got the footage off the new DVDs I got the other day. I haven't checked it to make sure everything's there, but I'm just going to go ahead and trust that that is the case.

On the note of Cartoon Heroes, I'm about halfway done editing the review of it as I write this. I don't know. I both like this review and dislike it, but then, I've felt that way about everything the past week, so my judgement isn't exactly at its best right now.

I've had some ideas about better organization of my content. I'm going to mull it over for awhile. Spring cleaning and whatnot, applies to YouTube channels as well. I guess.

I'm also getting really sick of all the spam on LiveJournal. But there's not much I can do about that. Just keep deleting it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot. I don't know how many of you follow JesuOtaku, anime reviewer for thatguywiththeglasses.com and animenewsnetwork.com, but she's putting together a Fruits Basket Audio Drama and has open auditions. I know some of you who follow me are interested in voice acting, so I suggest you audition for it. Here's the page for information:

Cartoon Heroes: Dungeons & Dragons

New episode up. Still looking for any constructive criticism. I am aware that some of the audio is a little quiet. I blame the DVDs and me being too lazy to turn the volume on them up.
